Jameson Chavez, Executive Chef

A standard at manna since day one, Jameson has run the gamut in the kitchen as our original sous chef, the chef de cuisine and most recently assuming the helm as Executive Chef. During his tenure here, Chavez has been a rock—an example of what hard work looks like. Even as he has had a long list of kitchen responsibilities to facilitate, he has always been our “go to” carpenter, mechanic and medic.

Hailing from Las Cruces, New Mexico, Chef Chavez brings a southwestern flair to our idea of American cooking. He left his family and friends in July 2010 and headed east to work with us here at manna. Undoubtedly one of our most committed team members, his ability and diligence and the sharing of a common goal has expedited his ascent through the kitchen ranks.

Originally working towards becoming a paramedic, Jameson had a change in career paths that brought him to the kitchen. “I’ve always been strangely drawn to cooking.” His time in New Mexico allowed him the opportunity to work at Torch at Meson de Mesilla (Las Cruces), A la Mesa (Santa Fe) & Restaurant Martin (Santa Fe).
 
His favorite chef is Rick Bayless: “I really enjoy the cuisine of Mexico and his culinary style.”

Although a difficult decision, his favorite foods are pizza, bread & a good roast chicken…but is equally drawn to burgers, meatloaf & mashed potatoes.

When he is not slaving in the kitchen he enjoys his time at Cross Fit, doing mud runs & spending quality time with his girlfriend, Ryan.

Jameson deserves all the credit that manna receives both then and now and that which may come in the future. Great businesses were built by people like him. We are extremely fortunate that he is with us.
